Now can you predict nucleotide quantities in a hypothetical scenario with more than four different types of nucleotides? An alie

n species was discovered that has DNA comprised of 6 different bases: G binds to C; A binds to T: and X binds to Y. Approximately 16% of this alien genome is comprised of nucleotides containing C, and 22% is comprised of nucleotides containing Y. Given this information, calculate the percentage of the alien genome that is comprised of nucleotides containing G, T, A, and X. (a) _____% of the alien genome is comprised of G. (b) _____% of the alien genome is comprised of T. (c) _____% of the alien genome is comprised of A. (d) _____% of the alien genome is comprised of X.

Answer:

16% is G

12% is T

12%is A

22% is X

Explanation:

Given that each nucleotide is complimentary to another nucleotide, there cannot be more of one than the other. For example, C bonds to G, so there cannot be more C than G, because there would be nothing for it to bond to.

So if there is approximately 16% of the genome composed of C, that would mean that approximately 16% is composed of G (for it to bond to).

The same logic can be used to determine the amount of nucleotide X is present. If Y binds to X, and approximately 22% is composed of nucleotide Y, then the same percentage can be given to nucleotide X, and say the amount of X is 22%.

Now all of the nucleotides have to add up to 100%, so:

A + T + G + C + X + Y = 100%

A + T + (16%) + (16%) + (22%) + (22%) = 100%

A + T = 24%

Given that A binds to T, they must be equal to each other, hence we can say that the concentration of A, equals the concentration of T.

Therefore, the concentration of A is 12%, and the concentration of T is also 12%.

Imagine a scenario where a disease has infected many species of grass in the savanna. How would this situation affect the animal
Thepotemich [5.8K]

Answer:

The effect that a situation like this:

Imagine a scenario where a disease has infected many species of grass in the savanna.

Would have in is A disbalance in the ecosystem because the infected plants would die and they won't be able to feed the animals that eat them and they would have to migrate to look for plants to eat. That would also lead to predators that eat the animals that feed on plants to follow them and both types of animals would be reduced in the trip.

Explanation:

To understand this answer we need to analyze the full context. First of all the plants are used as food by the herbivores, therefore they would see themselves in the need to look for healthy plants that could be used as food. Predators would follow them and this trip will reduce the number of both because they would require energy and food to keep traveling. The herbivores would take the worse part because they are bigger in number and their food would scarce, while they would be used as easy food for the carnivores.

What are air particles doing in an undisturbed state?
seraphim [82]

Answer:

Air particles are a mixture of solids and liquids that are microscopically tiny and suspended by air currents. It can stay in the atmosphere for a few hours to a month or two. Their constituents can be various harmful substances such as heavy metals - lead, nickel, arsenic, cadmium or polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

Explanation:

Air particles, nitrogen dioxide and ground-level ozone are now considered to be the three most polluting substances in human health. Exposure during peak concentration and long-term exposure to these pollutants can cause damage from respiratory distress to premature death.

Which set of movements can make substances go from an area of high concentration to areas of low concentration? *
Arisa [49]

Answer: Diffusion

Explanation:

Diffusion is the process or a spontaneous movement of particles from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration.

Examples are;

1. perfume

2. A drop of ink in a cup of water.

From these two examples when it is dropped, especially ink, it diffused inside the entire space of the cup and fill all the space by penetrating the entire molecule of the water available.
