The answer is B. 1/3+1/4

To do this, you have to put them into the same denominators. Do this by finding the common factor of both denominator. Then after that multiply the numerator by the number that it takes for the denominator to be multiplied to reach that common factor.

A. 6/8+1/4

The biggest common factor that 8 and 4 have is 16. So this is not the answer, since the denominator has to be 12.

B. 1/3+1/4

The factor that the both have in common is 12.

1*4=4 3*4=12. 4/12
1*3=3 4*3=12. 3/12

4/12+3/12=7/12

Dennis_Churaev [7]

The correct standard form of the equation of the parabola is:

(x+3)^{2}= 4(y - 3).

<h3 /><h3>What is a parabola?</h3>

An equation of a curve that has a point on it that is equally spaced from a fixed point and a fixed line is referred to as a parabola. The parabola's fixed line and fixed point are together referred to as the directrix and focus, respectively. It's also crucial to remember that the fixed point is not located on the fixed line. A parabola is a locus of any point that is equally distant from a given point (focus) and a certain line (directrix). An essential curve of the coordinate geometry's conic sections is the parabola.

For the given question,

Vertex of parabola is (-3,3)

Thus, the equation of the parabola is:

(x-h)^{2}=4(y-k)

(x+3)^{2}= 4(y-3)

In the figure above, square ABCD and triangle EFG have the same areas. If AB =6 and EG =8, what is the height o triangle EFG?
lawyer [7]

Answer:

The height of triangle EFG is 9 units

Step-by-step explanation:

see the attached figure to better understand the problem

step 1

Find the area of a square ABCD

The area of a square is equal to

A=b^2

where

b is the length side of the square

we have

b=AB=6\ units

substitute

A=6^2=36\ units^2

step 2

Find the height of triangle EFG

The area of triangle EFG is equal to

A=\frac{1}{2}(b)(h)

where

b is the base of triangle

h is the height of triangle

we have

b=EG=8\ units

A=36\ units^2 ---> area of triangle EFG is the same that the area of square ABCD

substitute the given values in the formula

36=\frac{1}{2}(8)(h)

solve for h

36=4h\\h=9\ units

therefore

The height of triangle EFG is 9 units

I only need help on the second and third one
Iteru [2.4K]

let's first off notice that, on the 2), the sector is really half of the whole circle, and on 3) the sector is one quarter of the whole circle.

now, on 2) AB is the diameter of 4 units, therefore it has a radius of 2, or half that.

\bf \boxed{2} \\\\\\ \stackrel{\textit{area of a circle}}{A=\pi r^2}~~ \begin{cases} r=radius\\[-0.5em] \hrulefill\\ r=2 \end{cases}\implies A=\pi 2^2\implies A=4\pi \\\\\\ \stackrel{\textit{half of that}}{A=2\pi}\implies A=\stackrel{\textit{rounded up}}{A=6.3~ft^2} \\\\[-0.35em] ~\dotfill

\bf \boxed{3} \\\\\\ \stackrel{\textit{area of a circle}}{A=\pi r^2}~~ \begin{cases} r=radius\\[-0.5em] \hrulefill\\ r=20 \end{cases}\implies A=\pi 20^2\implies A=400\pi \\\\\\ \stackrel{\textit{one quarter of that}}{A=100\pi }\implies \stackrel{\textit{rounded up}}{A=314.2~in^2}
