Why do you think the two rivers that start so close together flow to such different locations
harkovskaia [24]

I'm answering the literal and metaphorical question.

Say you have two rivers that are parallel and symmetrical, any little disturbance or alteration to the direction of one of will gradually make them end up in very different locations (may take years, but will happen 100%). Also, the geography of the land probably will not be the same, further making the destination of the two rivers very distant.

Now imagine two friends that have grown up in a married, middle class, family, they have went to the same school, had similar career goals, and hang out with the same friends. Friend one plans to be a nurse and the other a veterinarian. They start out the same, but as the education there're career(s) require, the farther they end up. Life is unpredictable and NOTHING is ever guaranteed.

Hope this enlightens people, this is my first answer.

Excerpt from Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address Abraham Lincoln 6 With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness i
choli [55]

Answer:

Option D. The primary rhetorical device Lincoln uses in paragraph six to unify and heal the nation is an emotional appeal.

Explanation:

In the last paragraph of his Second Inaugural Address, President Abraham Lincoln uses the rhetorical device of emotional appeal to persuade the audience to help unify and heal the nation after the Civil War. An emotional appeal is a rhetorical device in which the speaker wants to persuade the audience by creating an emotional response in them. Lincoln addresses the nation by saying that everyone needs to act with charity and good will, and not with any malice towards the other, as God would want. He mentions how it is the duty of all Americans to unify the nation and even mentions the ones wounded by the battle, the soldier's widows and orphans. All of these is said in order to create an emotional sense of responsibility in the American society towards peace and reunification.
