His movie is the true story of the lysine price-fixing case against Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) where several international companies colluded to keep the price high, so that they could maximize their profits. The lysine price-fixing conspiracy was an organized effort during the mid-1990s to raise the price of the animal feed additive lysine. It involved five companies that had commercialized high-tech fermentation technologies, including American  Japanese companies Ajinomoto and Kyowa Hakko Kogyo, and Korean companies Sewon America Inc. and Cheil Jedang Ltd. However, the main character Mark Whitacre played by Matt Damon turns informant and wears a wire while talking to other business executives divulging the collusion to <span>the FBI.
