Tone is the way a narrator conveys his feelings when speaking or writing. A speaker can have a happy, anxious, angry, depressed tone.
Mood on the other hand is simply the atmosphere which the tone of the narrator creates in a work.
Some differences between tone and mood:
- Tone refers to the choice of words a speaker decides to use
- Mood is the atmosphere a reader gets when reading the words of a speaker.
- Tone and mood does not have to be only positive and uplifting words because a tone can be either negative or depressing.
