Why did many people die during the indian removal?
Ganezh [65]

Hello there!

The reason why so many Indians died during the Indian removal was because the thousand mile journey they took to the Indian territory was deadly, due to the lack of support from the government. This would be known as the "Trail of Tears."

This journey that the Indians took was by walk, they didn't have cars or airplanes during the time, so they were forced out of their own land to the Indian territory, which was thousands of miles away form where they were settled. In the walk, they mostly walked barefooted, and were chained to each other. During the walk to the Indian territory, they mostly encountered starvation, thirst, and no help from the government. They weren't supplied any food, or other supplies to help them through the journey, which caused thousands of deaths in the journey, and only a few survived. This showed that the government didn't care for the people. That's why it's known as the "Trail of Tears" and "Death."
