You survey your class to find out the types of pets they have at home. Below are the results: Dog, Dog, Cat, Cat, Cat, Dog, Hams
Fynjy0 [20]

Answer:

a) Frequency table:

Category       Frequency

 Dog                     4

 Cat                       3

 Fish                      2

 Hamster               1

b) Relative frequencies of each animal type

  • Dog: 4/10 = 0.4
  • Cat: 3/10 = 0.3
  • Fish: 2/10 = 0.2
  • Hamster: 1/10 = 0.1

c) Popularity

  • Dog is the most popular because it has the highest relative frequency.
  • Hamster is the least popular because it has the lowest relative frequency.

Explanation:

<u>a. Make a frequency table for the results.</u>

There are four kind of pets: dog, cat, hamster, and fish.

A <em>frequency table </em>shows the number of items for each category (kind of pets).

Count the number of each kind of pet:

  • Dog: 4
  • Cat: 3
  • Hamster: 1
  • Fish: 2
  • Total: 10

With that you build your frequency table.

Frequency table:

Category       Frequency

 Dog                     4

 Cat                       3

 Fish                      2

 Hamster               1

<u>b. Relative frequencies of each animal type.</u>

The relative frequency is how often an outcome appears divided by the total number of outmcomes.

Here the total number of outcomes is 10 (the ten pets).

So, calculate each relative frequency:

  • Dog: 4/10 = 0.4
  • Cat: 3/10 = 0.3
  • Fish: 2/10 = 0.2
  • Hamster: 1/10 = 0.1

An important feature of the relative frequency is that they must add up 1. Check:

  • 0.4 + 0.3 + 0.2 + 0.1 = 1.

<u>c. Using the relative frequencies explain which animals are most and least popular.</u>

Popularity is determined by the frequency with each outcome is repeated. The most popular is the most repeated. The least popular is the least repeated.

  • Dog is the most popular because it has the highest relative frequency.

  • Hamster is the least popular because it has the lowest relative frequency.

Hope Amelia Solo, the American soccer goalkeeper, World Cup champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist, allows goals at a rate
Nuetrik [128]

Answer:

3.70% probability she allows more than one goal

Step-by-step explanation:

In a Poisson distribution, the probability that X represents the number of successes of a random variable is given by the following formula:

P(X = x) = \frac{e^{-\mu}*\mu^{x}}{(x)!}

In which

x is the number of sucesses

e = 2.71828 is the Euler number

\mu is the mean in the given time interval.

X~Pois(0.3)

This means that \mu = 0.3

In her next match, what is the probability she allows more than one goal?

Either she allows at most one goal, or she allows more than one goal. The sum of the probabilities of these events is decimal 1. So

P(X \leq 1) + P(X > 1) = 1

We want P(X > 1). So

P(X > 1) = 1 - P(X \leq 1)

In which

P(X \leq 1) = P(X = 0) + P(X = 1)

P(X = x) = \frac{e^{-\mu}*\mu^{x}}{(x)!}

P(X = 0) = \frac{e^{-0.3}*(0.3)^{0}}{(0)!} = 0.7408

P(X = 1) = \frac{e^{-0.3}*(0.3)^{1}}{(1)!} = 0.2222

P(X \leq 1) = P(X = 0) + P(X = 1) = 0.7408 + 0.2222 = 0.9630

P(X > 1) = 1 - P(X \leq 1) = 1 - 0.9630 = 0.0370

3.70% probability she allows more than one goal

The equation for Constant of Proportionality is y = kx? If you solved for the letter k instead of y, would the correct equation.
telo118 [61]
I don’t think it would work it you solved for k instead of y. Because you’re solving for y when you do constant of proportionality. i’m not sure if i’m right or not but that’s what i think.
