There is ample debate as to whether psychological research is sexist. This is usually argued due to the fact that most researchers and study subjects are male. Therefore, it is impossible to have a good idea of the differences between men and women, as a study performed only by men is likely to have an implicit bias. A famous case that illustrates this debate is the case of the stages of development of Kohlberg. This theory was accused of having a male bias by Carol Gilligan, who published her conclusions in the book <em>In a Different Voice</em>.
