Hey!

Hope this helps...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before I state the answer, we have to find which answer is NOT correct.
We can see that A and C, are incorrect because they say the word "except their reward" which is talking about excluding something, not "accept their reward" which it gathering or agreeing to something.
We also see that B is incorrect because when it says "Accept for Bill," this just doesn't even make sense because the word "accept" is gathering or agreeing to something.
So...
The correct answer is:
D.) Except for Bill, all of the players were present to accept their reward...
Explain why the author might have chosen to write the last sentence:
Make an inference.
morpeh [17]
Answer:
I haven't read it so I can only guess based on what you've shown us. It sounds as though earlier on in the story, Annemarie wanted to be involved in some sort of potentially dangerous activity. Later on, I assume she witnessed someone else get hurt or realized the true danger of the activity and realized she's actually glad she isn't involved in a harmful way. The inference I can make is that her opinion on the dangerous activity, whatever it may be, has changed due to someone or something else's suffering.
This might not even be correct since I don't know what the reading is from, but I hope this at least helps you make your own inference of whatever the reading was.
The cobra effect was experienced by the British colonizers in India in order to get rid of Cobra, and by Chicago to get rid of plastic pollution.
What is the cobra effect?
The cobra effect is given as the worsening of the situation with the implementation of a solution. The name came when the Britishers in India to get rid of the keeping cobra as pets made the rule of not allowing it, and the cobra population increases and worsen the situation.
The cobra effect is thereby further seen in many places, such as the efforts of the Chicago government to reduce the use of plastic. But the implementation of a tax on lightweight plastic introduces the use and the deposition of the heavy-weight plastic.
