14 x 15 = 210 square feet for the entire garden. 210/20 gives you the amount of soil bags needed. 210/ 20= 10.5 bags. so you will need 11.

14*15 is 210 which his the entire area. now divide 210/20 you get 10.5 so you will need at least 11 bags

What is the solution to f(x) = g(x)
Vaselesa [24]

Answer:

B) -1 and D) 1

Step-by-step explanation:

We want to find the solution to

f(x)=g(x)

Which means that we want to find the values of x at which the two functions f(x) and g(x) are equal.

In order to do that, we have to look at the table, and see at which values of x the two functions have the same value.

We observe that the only two values at which this occurs are:

at x=-1, where both functions are equal to f(x)=g(x)=-3

at x=1, where both functions are equal to f(x)=g(x)=5

N is the number of leaflets so you just substitute the required number for N.

C=3 \times 2500 + 425=7500+425=7925

The cost of printing 2500 leaflets is <span>£</span>7925.

Use the following graph to estimate the rate of change of the function at x=0.6 using the points (0,0) and (1,−0.5)
svetoff [14.1K]

Answer:

The rate of change of the function at x = 0.6 is approximately -0.72

Step-by-step explanation:

The given information from the graph are;

Points (0, 0) and (1, -0.5)

We have that the graph is that of a cubic function, therefore;

f(x) = ax³ + bx² + cx + d

At f'(x) at  (0, 0) and (1, -0.5) = 0 gives;

3ax² + 2bx + c = 0

∴ c = 0

Also

ax³ + bx² + cx + d = 0

d = 0

We have

3a(1)² + 2b(1) + 0 = 0

3·a + 2·b = 0..............(1)

a(1)³ + b(1)² + c(1) + d = -0.5

a + b + 0×(1) + 0 = -0.5

a + b = -0.5..........(2)

Multiplying equation (2) by 2 and subtracting it from equation (1) gives;

2 × (a + b = -0.5) = 2·a + 2·b = -1

3·a + 2·b - (2·a + 2·b) = 0 - (-1) = 0 + 1 = 1

a = 1

From

a + b = -0.5, we have;

1 + b = -0.5 = 0

b = -0.5 - 1 = -1.5

The equation becomes

f(x) = x³ - 1.5·x²

The rate of change of the function at x = 0.6 is therefore given as follows;

f'(x) = 3 × x² - 2 × (1.5)·x = 3·x² - 3·x

At x = 0.6, we have;

f'(0.6) = 3·(0.6)² - 3·(0.6)

f'(0.6) = 3×0.6² - 3×0.6 = -0.72

The rate of change of the function at x = 0.6 ≈ -0.72

Consider the function f(x) = x² – 3x – 4 and complete parts (a) through (C). (a) Find f(a+h); f(a+h)-f(a) (b) Find (c) Find the
Artist 52 [7]

Answer:

(a)

f(a+h)=a^{2} +2ah+h^{2} -3a-3h-4

(b)

f(a+h)-f(a)=2ah+h^{2} -3h

(c)

\frac{df(a+h)}{dx} \left \{ { \atop {a=7}} \right. =2h+11

Step-by-step explanation:

(a)

Simply evaluate (a+h) in the function:

f(a+h)=(a+h)^{2} -3(a+h)-4=a^{2} +2ah+h^{2} -3a-3h-4

(b)

Evaluate (a) in the function:

f(a)=a^{2} -3a-4

Using the previous answers lets calculate f(a+h)-f(a)

f(a+h)-f(a)=a^{2} +2ah+h^{2} -3a-3h-4-(a^{2} -3a-4)=2ah+h^{2} -3h

(c) To find the rate of change of f(a+1) when a=7 we need to calculate its derivate at that point:

\frac{df(a+h)}{dx} \left \{ { \atop {a=7}} \right. =2a+2h-3=2(7)+2h-3=2h+14-3=2h+11
