Complete Question:

A sample of radium-226 will decay to 1/4 of its original amount after 3200 years. What is the half-life of radium-226?

Answer:

1,600 years is the half life of radium-226.

Explanation:

The half-life (symbol t_{1 / 2}) is the time it requires or the time taken to reduce the amount to half of its original value. The term is often used in nuclear physics to describe how quickly unstable atoms are radioactive degrading or how long stable atoms remain.

There will be 100% presence of sample in zero half-life.

In first half-life, 50% available of sample (\frac{1}{2} left from the original)

Then second half life, 25% available of sample (\frac{1}{4} left from the original)

Here, given sample of radium-226 will decay to 1/4 of its original amount after 3200 years.

So, after two half life, sample of radium-226 will decay to 1/4 of its original amount. Hence, simply divide 3200 by 2 to find half-life.

           \frac{3200}{2}=1600 \text { years }

Why do plant cells have mitochondrion?
cestrela7 [59]
Plants have mitochondrion because they use ATP for cellular respiration. ATP is very important in photosynthesis. In order to use ATP for cellular respiration, then plants must have mitochondrion/mitochondria for it to take place.

Answer:

A. A popular culture magazine

Explanation:

Each of the other two types of sources has more authority than this one. A brochure from a doctor's office and a government agency's website would have more accurate information about medicine than a magazine.

Select the answer that best explains why Caitlin has blue eyes and Jack has green eyes. Genetic Diversity Species Diversity Gend
ki77a [65]

Answer:

"Genetic Diversity" best explains why Caitlin has blue eyes and Jack has green eyes.

Explanation:

It can be known as the total genetic characteristic in the genetic make up of species. It can also be differentiated from the genetic variability, which explains the tendency of variation of genetic characteristic. It also serves as the way for various populations to adapt to environmental variation. It is an important phenomenon which further helps in maintaining the health of the population which includes the alleles which are important for resisting diseases.

Discuss the relationship between Gibbs free energy, redox reactions and cellular respiration in mitochondria.
Finger [1]

Cellular respiration is a redox process that mainly occurs in mitochondria, whereas Gibbs's free energy refers to the energy in a closed system.

What is cellular respiration?

Cellular respiration refers to the oxide reduction reactions (redox) associated with the production of energy in aerobic cells.

Cellular respiration occurs in the cytoplasm (glycolysis) and mitochondria (Krebs cycle and oxidative phosphorylation).

Finally, in thermodynamics, the Gibbs free energy refers to the energy generated in a closed system.
