Answer: D

                                                  Explanations:

A. Is angry that the coffee is too weak. I don't believe this is the answer, because, "blinked red eyes at the weak brew of coffee" Isn't the main idea or key detail, and isn't important at all.

B. Doesn't appreciate the effort of the narrator to make breakfast. Not really the answer, because if the mom didn't really appreciate the breakfast, it would've shown more evidence for that. Besides, some people wake up cranky ;w;

C. Is frustrated that she had been woken up by the narrator. No. Nowhere in the second paragraph it says that the mom was woken up by the narrator.

D. Feels very tired even after a good night's sleep. Yes. I believe this is the answer because in paragraph 1, the narrator made sure the TV was low so the mom could sleep. In paragraph 2, It's obvious that the mom feels very tired because of these clues: Yawned a hat-sized yawn, and blinked red eyes.

MakcuM [25]

The answer is that the author used the word willow to portray two different meanings by using the techniques of metaphor and personification.

  1. ''An old willow with hollow branches slowly swayed his few high tendrils and sang(...) >> Here the author used the technique of personification in order to explain that the branches performed the human action of dancing.
  2. ''Love is a young green willow (...)'' >> Here the author used the technique of metaphor to compare love to a green willow (Willows are associated with spirituality and the ability to bend without snapping, a methaphor that is commonly used in Celtic culture to teach that we must adjust to the situation/feeling instead of fighting against it)

Hope this helps!

Give one example of assonance in the poem “ making a fist “ and explain how this example of assonance supports the lines meaning
Ket [755]

Answer:

Assonance is characterized as the literary device in which there is a repetition of similar or identical vowel sounds though with different consonants.

In the poem titled 'Making a Fist', one example of assonance would be in the repeated occurrence of vowel sound 'i' in 'wide' and 'inside.' This example conveys the idea of 'life being vast consisting of both the joys and troubling times as well' which associates to the central message of poem 'an individual's strength in his/her self irreespective of the type of the situation' and make it more effective.
