A biologist used the Internet to contact scientists around the world to obtain information about declining amphibian populations

. He was able to gather data on 936 populations of amphibians, consisting of 157 species from 37 countries. Results showed that the overall numbers of amphibians dropped 15% a year from 1960 to 1966 and continued to decline about 2% a year through 1997. What is the importance of collecting an extensive amount of data such as this?

If you were a scientist studying traits which are selected by humans instead of the environment, you would be studying the follo
Dvinal [7]

The correct answer is: Artificial selection (selective breeding).

Artificial Selection is a form of selection, totally influenced by human, in which traits that should be passed onto offspring are chosen by human. Selective breeding was used long before the genetics was discoverd. Farmers used individuals with beneficial traits, larger in size, with bigger fruit etc.

Hunting is also one type of selective breeding, since the hunters choose the animal and remove it from the population (gene pool), leaving the “weaker” to pass on to the next generation.

A certain area received a large amount of rain and some of it remained on top of the soil. What happened to the rest of this wat
ValentinkaMS [17]

In the large rainfall is some water remains in the top of the soil the rest of this water is seeped into the ground.

Explanation:

 • Mainly the absorption of water by the ground depends upon the nature and the fertility of the soil.
 • When the ground receives the water it mainly accounts for the absorption and then there will be a runoff. The absorption helps to raise the level of groundwater for future usage.
 • The amount of water that can get into the soil mainly depends upon the permeability of the soil surface. The water which can't infiltrate in the soil runs off into the water bodies.
 • The water is an essential requirement for survival and the existence of biological organisms.
