Answer:

B. simplified versions of reality designed to analyze "what ought to be" to help the government improve outcomes.

Explanation:

Economic models are simplified versions of reality designed to analyze "what ought to be" to help the government improve outcomes.

The argument that economic models are futuristic rather than current in its approach, could be seen from the purpose it tries to achieve (its uses)

The uses of economic models include:

1. Prediction of economic activities in which assumptions are used to arrive at conclusions

2. Prescription of new economic guidelines for the modification of future economic behaviors .

3. Provision of logical defense for justification of economic policies.

4. Planning and allocation of resources.

5. For assistance in speculation about trading and investment.

All of these reasons are futuristic in nature, hence the alignment with the proposition that 'Economic models are simplified versions of reality designed to analyze "what ought to be" to help the government improve outcomes.'

Do you believe the statement "perception is reality"? Why or why not?
Allisa [31]
I wholeheartedly agree and think it’s practically self-evident.

Here’s an excellent example from history.

For 28 years, the Berlin Wall separated East Berlin from West Berlin and was the most heavily militarized border crossing in the Western hemisphere. In 1989, during a press conference with western media, Gunther Schabowski was handed a note explaining a change in policy governing border crossing. Several discussions took place about making a show of opening the border between East and West Germany, but nobody informed Schabowski.

At the end of the press conference, he appears to have remembered the note belatedly, and read it verbatim—which was not what was intended. When asked about when the border would open, he assumed it was immediate.

The reality of course was that East Germany had no intention of opening the border, and certainly not immediately.

Within hours, the border crossing was practically buried under thousands of East Germans eager to be reunited with their families and other loved ones after 28 years on the press conference, which had been broadcast live.

The East Germans believed what they were told: Schabowski said immediately, and they intended to go immediately.

Border guards kept calling for instructions, until finally, they relented.

Perception became reality, and the border between East and West Berlin opened, spelling the de facto end of the separation of Germany.

Suppose there is a product that is being sold in a perfectly competitive market. If the market price of the product falls, prod
yuradex [85]

Answer:

Decrease; Less

Explanation:

The producer surplus is the difference between the minimum price that a producer is willing to accept for a product and the price he actually receives.

When the market price of a product falls, the producer surplus will decrease as well.

The lower market price implies that there will be less area between the supply curve and the market price of the product.

American Idle sells hammocks in a perfectly competitive market. This year, the price of hammocks has fallen to $24, and Simon Co
AfilCa [17]

Answer:

Shut down as P < AVC.

Explanation:

Given that,

Selling price = $24

Average variable cost = $25

Average total cost (ATC) = $30

Marginal cost = $24

He should shut down because the price received by him for the product is less than average variable cost. He should shut down its operations because he won't be able cover the average variable cost associated with the production of the product.

Price = $24 which is less than average variable cost of $25.

If he will be able to cover its variable cost then he will continue operating in this market condition.

How does Alibaba implement competitive pricing strategy in market?
laila [671]

Answer:

By reducing their prices compare to the price of their competitors.

Explanation:

Note, a competitive pricing strategy refers to a pricing strategy that involves deliberately finding out the prices in which your competitor sells their product and then tailoring yours to be a little lower than theirs, by so doing customers feel motivated to buy from you instead.

For example, Alibaba can go to its competitor, let's say Amazon. and see how sells an iPhone. Then Alibaba can reduce/set its own price benchmark based on their prices.
