DNA is like a book because the arrangement of nucleotide in the DNA determines the entire organism’s phenotype.

Further Explanation:

Gene is defined as the linear sequence of the nucleotides that are mainly encoded for a protein having a particular function. The alleles are defined as the variant type of the gene. DNA is mainly made up of the nucleotides and also contains genetic information in the genes. Every nucleotide is composed of deoxyribose, nitrogenous base, and phosphate group. DNA is made up of four distinct type of nitrogenous base:

  • Cytosine
  • Adenine
  • Guanine
  • Thymine

Each and every single chromosome consists of genes. The chromosomes are mainly present in the nucleus of a cell and it is made up of single molecule of DNA as well as proteins. The bunch like structures present in the chromosome is called nucleosomes which are considered as the smallest unit of a DNA packaging. The structural unit of a nucleosome is histones that are bound tightly in a helical fiber.

The letters in the book is similar to the nucleotide in the DNA. The meaningful combination of letter forms the information that is entitled. Similarly the arrangement of nucleotide in the DNA is responsible structural and functional behavior of the organism. That’s why DNA is referred as book which enclosed all the hereditary information of the body.

Rock layers can be correlated to eachother using fossils.   Please select the best answer from the choices provided T F
viktelen [127]

The correct answer is - False.

To trace the correlation between the rock layers by using fossils can be a big mistake, though occasionally it may provide the proper information, still it will be relying on luck.

The case is actually the other way around, the fossils can be correlated by using the rock layers, because each layer of rocks represents some time in the geologic past.

The fossils, on the other hand, are much more easy to be moved through the layers over time, because there can be disturbances, adjustments in the crust, or the rocks can change their composition under the influence of multiple factors. All of that can contribute to the fossils ending up at places where they aren't expected to be, so using them to correlate the rock layers will not be a very useful method.
