The trumpet (also called the piston) is a wind musical instrument made of metal (usually yellow brass) and played by the vibration of the lips against a mouthpiece. The trumpet is what produces the sharpest sound of brass instruments.
The trumpet is an evolution of the trumpet of wood, silver, or other metals that appeared in Egypt in the second millennium BC when it was a small, straight instrument of military and religious use and played only one or two notes. It was used as a signaling instrument for military or civilian purposes (announcing battles or the arrival of authorities). In ancient Greece it was called salpinge and in Rome it was called a tuba. Finally, the trumpet was eventually used to play music from the Middle Ages (around the fifth to the fifteenth century).
