Ind the area shared by the circles r=2cos(theta) and r=2sin(theta).

<span>i know the general formula for finding the area, but i don't know which is the outside one, and which is the inside circle. but i've tried both ways and am still not getting the right answer. </span>

so let's just say i'll try it with integral .5(4cos(x)^2-.5(4sin(x)^2)
<span>i can factor out a 2, giving me cos(x)^2-sin(x)^2. the integral of that, i believe, can be expressed as 4sin(2x). now i figured the limits of integration were from 0 to pi/4, because those are the two places the circles intersect. so evaluating there, i would get 4-0=4. but I've been told the answer is pi/2 -1. so where am i going wrong, because i'm way off.</span>

What is the first step to solve the equation A. Square both sides of the equation. B. Add 5 to both sides of the equation. Squar
jekas [21]

Hi :)

I'd start by adding 5 to both sides of the equation. That would make the equation easier.

\boldsymbol{\sqrt{2x}-5=3}}

\boldsymbol{\sqrt{2x}=2}

The next step is to get rid of the radical sign.

Which operation will undo the square root? Squaring.

So that's why we square both sides:

\boldsymbol{2x=4}

And Now we just divide both sides by 2

\boldsymbol{x=2}

Which expression belongs in the box?
MakcuM [25]

Answer:

The expression that belongs in the box is 8 x 4

Option C is correct answer.

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to find Which expression belongs in the box?

(3 \times 8)  \times 4= 3 \times (------)

The property applied here is associative property of multiplication.

Associative property of multiplication states that:

(a \times b)\times c = a \times (b \times c)

So, if we apply the property to our question we have:

a = 3

b = 8

c = 4

So, the expression will become: (3 \times 8)  \times 4= 3 \times (8 \times 4)

So, the expression that belongs in the box is 8 x 4

Option C is correct answer.
