Your best option's when dealing with a Volcanic eruption should be an evacuation, but if you aren't partaking in that evacuation, staying in place is your best option. 

Three dangers could possibly result from a volcanic eruption. Magma is the least of your worries, but the Ash and poisonous gases are. In either case, lock your doors, try and stay at upper levels, and putting towels over all cracks. Wear Long Sleeves and pants, as well as a respirator mask (or cloth), and googles. Prepare an emergency kit just in case things get out of had, which should contain supplies for mild burns, and a flashlight.
