1. What are the two primary places glycogen is stored in the body? Why is it stored in both places?
Likurg_2 [28]

The two primary places where glycogen is stored in the body are:

  1. Liver
  2. Muscles

  • Glycogen is stored in the liver so as to maintain blood glucose level
  • It is stored in the muscles in order to provide energy during long fast

Whenever the body needs energy, special enzymes breaks the glycogen into glucose which is transported to various parts of the body.

Generally, glycogen is a main source of energy for the body

<h3>What is glycogen?</h3>

Glycogen simply refers to polysaccharide of glucose. It serves and function as a form of energy storage

An enzyme that follows simple michaelis–menten kinetics has an initial reaction velocity of 10 μmol⋅min−1 when the substrate con
svet-max [94.6K]

The Vmax of the enzyme is 12 μmol⋅min−1

We use Michaelis-menten equation,  which is given by;

V=\frac{Vmax(S)}{Km+(S)} \\

Where v is velocity of reaction

Vmax = maximum rate achieved by the system

[S] = concentration of a substrate

K_{m}= Michaelis constant

Given V_{0} = 10umolmin^{-1}

[S] = 5km

Now, we calculate Vmax:

10umolmin^{-1} = \frac{Vmax*(5Km)}{Km+5Km}

Km = 1

10=\frac{5KmVmax}{6Km}

\frac{10*6}{5} =Vmax

Vmax =12 μmol⋅min−1

RNA polymerase catalyzes the addition of many rNTPs to a growing RNA.
SIZIF [17.4K]

Answer:

b. Elongation

Explanation:

During the start of the elongation phase of RNA synthesis, the sigma subunit of RNA polymerase of <em>E. coli</em> is released and NusA protein takes its place. This makes the RNA polymerase to move away from the promoter.

During the elongation phase of RNA synthesis, the enzyme DNA dependent RNA polymerase elongates the RNA strand by addition of ribonucleotides to the free 3'-OH end. The process occurs in 5' to 3' direction and the 3'-OH group serves as a nucleophile.
