According to a different source, the question that Gandhi asks is:

"And why do I regard the British rule as a curse?"

The main reason why Gandhi asks this question is because it serves as a prompt for him to talk about his views and ideas. In this text, Gandhi wants to explain that British rule is not beneficial to India. This is the claim that he makes, and that needs to be defined. By asking this rhetorical question, Gandhi is able to provide his reasons for wanting the British rule to end.

Alex73 [517]

"A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse!" This line is an example of meter from Shakespeare's play, Richard the Third. There is a rhythm to this language when spoken. It is written in perfect iambic pentameter because it has five iambs.

Christianity, Individualism and the growing secularism

Christianity took an important role during renaissence. During this time, it took the form of Christian Humanism in the sense that in the European Middle Ages there was a strong tendency to despise human affairs. It means that People were more focused on God and in the afterlife. However, in the Renaissence people started to reject those ideas and started to focus on culture and the human development in this life. This is called secularism. We have to remember that there was the beginning of the protestant reform with Martin Luther in Germany and Henry VIII  who was a strong character in the Reform movement. He was the most absolute monarch of that time. Because the Catholic Church didn't give him the anullment of his marriage with Catherine of Aragon, he appointed himself the supreme head of the Church of England and took many properties of the Catholic church. The picture "The moneylender and his wife" painted by Quentin Matsys depicts very much this time. There is a woman in this picture with a Bible and there is a man weighing jewels and pieces of gold. We could say that the woman represents the Christian Humanism  and the man represents secularism.

Which selection from the section "Slowing The Spread" BEST explains what epidemiologists mean by "flattening the curve"?
nikitadnepr [17]

Answer:

I believe the options are:

(A) All these decisions by public officials and businesses are aimed at one goal: slowing down the spread of  the virus to avoid overburdening a health care system that doesn't have the infrastructure to handle a  sudden surge of tens of thousands of cases at once.

(B) Epidemiologists study diseases and how they spread. They can somewhat predict how many cases of a  disease are going to occur based on how the disease is behaving.

(C) The only reason total U.S. cases aren't already skyrocketing is that coronavirus testing has been such a  mess that too few people — just 77 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the  whole week of March 8 — are being tested. You can't count cases you haven't identified yet.

(D) But every indication is that the United States is on track to see the same exponential increase other  countries are seeing, as scientist Mark Handley has been tracking on Twitter.

Explanation:

Flattening the curve basically means to lessen the pressure on the healthcare system by employing precautionary measures against the coronavirus. These, as you might already be aware, include hand washing, use of face masks, sanitizers, gloves and staying at home to prevent catching the infection.

Without protective measures, the number of cases will increase exponentially, ultimately overburdening the healthcare system. There won't be enough doctors, nurses or medical equipment to cater to the patients.

tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

Answer:

Dear Brother Rahul,

I've learned that you're in poor company these days. All of your buddies are spoiled, wealthy people's sons. I've also heard that you skip classes and return to the hostel late at night. It's alarming to learn that your pals are notorious bad boys with a variety of terrible behaviors.

This is a major source of anxiety for the whole family. The father seems to be cool, while the mother cannot disguise her feelings. She often weeps as a result of the complaints about your behavior.

Explanation:

You did a great job! I only tweaked the grammar a bit.
