It describes her feeling incomplete and feeling like she doesn't have anything to call her own, so i think emptiness..

This excerpt from "Aunt Imogen" expresses emptiness and deceit.

The character in this excerpt is possesed by a strong feeling of empiness. She feels a void inside herself and aches to fill it with something of her own.

But, at the same time, she maintans a facade. She appears, to everyone she knows, to be utterly happy and complete.
