In this process cells, breakdown glucose in the multi-step process in which the very first step is glycolysis, the second is the Krebs's cycle and the third is the electron transport system in the mitochondria.

Glycolysis: It is the first step of cellular respiration that is enzyme based metabolic reaction that converts glucose into pyruvate and releases energy in the form of ATP and NADH. The net gain of the pathway is two ATP and two NADH.

Pyruvate oxidative link is an intermediate reaction between glycolysis and Krebs cycle that converts pyruvate to acetyl CoA.

Krebs cycle: It is a pathway involves chemical reactions release stored energy through the oxidation of acetyl CoA derived from pyruvate into adenosine triphosphate and carbon dioxide.

Electron transport system: all previous steps reduce the electron carriers to NADH + H+ and FADH2. Then these donate protons and electrons to the electron carrier proteins of the ETS system. In the end, the electron accepted by oxygen.
