Brut [27]

Answer:

The soldiers consider him arrogant and cowardly. He boasts about his bravery, telling the soldiers the story of his escape from the Spaniards. During a scrimmage, he found himself in enemy lines and, thinking quickly, removed his white scarf (a mark of his French military rank) to blend in with the crowd and get away.

According to the Iroquois Constitution, what is one quality of a good leader?
denis-greek [22]

The Great Law of Peace is the set of rules that make the constitution of the Iroquois Confederacy. The law was written by Dekanawidah, known as the Great Peacemaker, and his spokesman Hiawatha.

The laws were first recorded by means of “wampum symbols” that conveyed meaning. In a later era the Iroquois Constitution was translated into English and various other versions exist. The Great Law of Peace is presented as part of a narrative stating laws and ceremonies to be performed at prescribed times. The laws called a constitution are divided into 117 articles. The united Iroquois nations are symbolized by an eastern white pine tree, called the Tree of Peace. Each nation or tribe plays a defined role in the conduct of government.

According to the Iroquois Constitution, one quality of a good leader is:

honesty

Read these opening lines from “Dew” and answer the question.
Keith_Richards [23]

Answer:

Dew transforms ordinary objects into beautiful things.

Explanation:

Figurative language is the use of words in such a way that they make the words more colorful. Writers use this literary technique to give more life to their works and also to present images more beautifully, with the intention of more clarity in the writing.

In the given lines from the poem, the figurative language used is a simile where the speaker compares the dews with that of stars. Dews, when they stick to cobwebs in early mornings, they appear like tiny stars suspending in the sky.

This figurative language conveys that dews transform ordinary things into more beautiful things.
