In every right triangle, if you add up the squares of the two
shorter sides, you get the square of the longest side. If you
don't then it's not a right triangle.

10² = 100
24² = 576

100 + 576 = 676

676 is the square of 26.
It's NOT the square of 28.

So 10 - 24 - 28 is not a right triangle.

28^2=10^2+24^2\\
784=100+576\\
784=776

It's not.

Triclosan is a compound often added to products such as soaps, lotions, and toothpaste. It is antimicrobial, so for that reason,
miv72 [106K]

Answer:

The appropriate alternative hypothesis is, Hₐ: p₁ - p₂ > 0.

Step-by-step explanation:

In this case it is provided that Triclosan is a compound often added to products such as soaps, lotions, and toothpaste.

Since the compound is antimicrobial its corporate producer maintained that it should help prevent staph infections among people who use products containing the compound.

But a scientist wants to test whether the compound actually is associated with higher incidence of staph infection.

That is he wants to determine whether people with a detectable level of triclosan have higher rates of carrying the staph bacteria than people without triclosan.

Denote:

Group 1: people with a detectable level of triclosan

Group 2: people without a detectable level of triclosan

To test this the hypothesis can be defined as follows:

H₀: The proportion of people with a detectable level of triclosan does not have higher rates of carrying the staph bacteria than people without triclosan, i.e. p₁ - p₂ ≤ 0.

Hₐ: The proportion of people with a detectable level of triclosan have higher rates of carrying the staph bacteria than people without triclosan, i.e. p₁ - p₂ > 0.

Thus, the appropriate alternative hypothesis is, Hₐ: p₁ - p₂ > 0.

HELP What is the area of this figure?
Mademuasel [1]
The correct answer is:  [B]:  "40 yd² " .
_____________________________________________________
First, find the area of the triangle:

The formula of the area of a triangle, "A":

A = (1/2) * b * h ;

in which:  " A = area (in units 'squared') ;  in our case, " yd² " ;

                 " b = base length" = 6 yd.

                 " h = perpendicular height" = "(4 yd + 4 yd)" = 8 yd.
___________________________________________________
→  A = (1/2) * b * h = (1/2) * (6 yd) * (8 yd) = (1/2) * (6) * (8) * (yd²) ;

                                                                   =  " 24 yd² " .
___________________________________________________
Now, find the area, "A", of the square:

The formula for the area, "A" of a square:

   A = s² ;

in which:  "A = area (in "units squared") ; in our case, " yd² " ;

                 "s = side length (since a 'square' has all FOUR (4) equal side lengths);

A = s²  = (4 yd)² = 4² * yd² =  "16 yd² "
_________________________________________________
Now, we add the areas of BOTH the triangle AND the square:
_________________________________________________
        →  " 24 yd²  +  16 yd² " ;

to get:  " 40 yd² " ;  which is:  Answer choice:  [B]:  " 40 yd² " .

two blocks of wood are shaped as right rectangle prisms the smaller block has a length of 9 cm a width of 3 cm and a height of 7
dolphi86 [110]

Answer:

1,512 cm³

Step-by-step explanation:

The general formula for the volume of a prism is:

V= Bh, where B = the area of the base and h = height of the prism

Given the dimensions of the smaller block as 9cm x 3cm x 7cm, then the dimensions of the larger block (double the dimensions of the smaller block) must be 18cm x 6cm x 14cm. Using these measurements:

V = (18)(6)(14) = 1,512 cm³
