Serigraphy (or screen printing), also known as silk-screen printing, is a stencil-based printing process in which ink is forced through a fine screen to the substrate below it. The canvases were originally made of silk and, for this reason, the name of Greek origin - seri (silk) and spelling (writing or drawing).

Screen printing is used for printing mass production items such as t-shirts, posters and mugs. Today the canvas are made of finely woven polyester or nylon.
