Answer:

14 3/4 pounds

Step-by-step explanation:

This is an addition problem

All your variables/foods are in pounds, so there is no need to convert them to different units

By 1/1/2, I'm going to assume that's 1 and 1/2. Same with the other.

Then just add!

12 + 1 1/2 + 1 1/4 = 14 3/4

If you are confused on how to add halves to fourths, what you have to do is find a common denominator (bottom of the fraction)

Since 2 x 2 = 4, multiply 1/2 by 2 on both top and bottom

This is essentially multiplying by 1, but it will give the equivalent fraction with a different denominator.

2/4 + 1/4 = 3/4

Therefore, your answer is 14 3/4 pounds

muminat

There are three different choices for the American.

There are 16 different choices for the first non-American and 15 different choices for the other non-American.

So, there are 3 x 16 x 15 different groups.

But, order is important -- who gets the gold, who gets the silver, and who gets the bronze -- there are 6 different ways to arrange the 3 winners (3! = 6).

Thus, there are 6 x 3 x 16 x 15 different results.
