King John was a dictator, and the Magna Carta forced him to accept certain terms that made this government “for the people” and ruled by the people. Today’s government in the US has been influenced by the Magna Carta and its principles. Rather than being forced into tyranny or absolute ruling, there became limited monarchies and democracies. People had more power.
