Given:

f(x)=x^{3}+5 x^{2}+x

f(x)=\sqrt{x}

f(x)=x^{2}+x

f(x)=-x

To find:

The odd function.

Solution:

If f(-x) = -f(x), then the function is odd.

If f(-x) = f(x), then the function is even.

Option A: f(x)=x^{3}+5 x^{2}+x

Substitute x = -x

f(-x)=(-x)^{3}+5 (-x)^{2}+(-x)

          =-x^3+5x^2-x

          =-(x^3-5x^2+x)

          ≠ - f(x)

It is not odd function.

Option B: f(x)=\sqrt{x}

Substitute x = -x

f(-x)=\sqrt{-x}

          =\sqrt{x} i   (Since \sqrt{-1} =i)

          ≠ - f(x)

It is not odd function.

Option C: f(x)=x^{2}+x

Substitute x = -x

f(-x)=(-x)^{2}+(-x)

          =x^2-x

          =-(-x^2+x)

          ≠ - f(x)

It is not odd function.

Option D: f(x)=-x

Substitute x = -x

f(-x)=-(-x)

          =-f(x)

It is odd function.

Therefore, f(x) = -x is an odd function.

Xy = –16. What is the constant of variation for this relationship?
olganol [36]
Direct variation is y=kx and inverse variation is y=k/x, in this case:

y=-16/x

So this is an inverse variation with a constant of -16

Simplify the expression. <br> -216) + 3(5 – 4 x 2)
masya89 [10]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

If it's (-216):

(-216) + 3(5 - 4 x 2)

(-216) + 3( -3)

(-216) -9

-225

If it's -2(16):

-2(16) + 3(5 - 4 x 2)

-2(16) + 3(-3)

-32 - 9

-41
