A standard deck of cards has 52 cards divided into 4 suits, each of which has 13 cards. Two of the suits ( and , called `hearts'

and `diamonds') are red, the other two ( and , called `spades' and `clubs') are black. The cards in the deck are placed in random order (usually by a process called `shuffling'). What is the probability that the first two cards drawn from the deck are both red

Answer:

The probability that the first two cards drawn from the deck are both red is 24.51%

Step-by-step explanation:

A standard deck of cards has 52 cards. There are 4 of each card (4 Aces, 4 Kings, 4 Queens, etc.) . There are 4 suits (Clubs, Hearts, Diamonds, and Spades) with each suit being 13 cards .  Two of the suits (hearts and diamonds) are red, the other two (spades and clubs) are black.

P(first two cards drawn from the deck are both red)= P(First card is red) ∙× P(Second card is red)

Since two suits of the card is red (i.e hearts and diamond) and each suit consist of 13 cards, the total number of red cad = 13 + 13 = 26

P(First card is red) = number of red card / total number of cards = 26 / 52

When the first card is drawn without replacement i.e the card is not put back into the deck, the total number of card reduces to 51 and the number of red card reduces to 25.

Therefore, P(Second card is red) = 25 / 51

P(first two cards drawn from the deck are both red)= P(First card is red) ∙× P(Second card is red) = (26 / 52) × (25 / 51) = 0.2451 = 24.51%

The probability that the first two cards drawn from the deck are both red is 24.51%

Answer:

0.2451

Step-by-step explanation:

- A deck of card has a total of 52 cards. The number of black and red cards are equally divided:

                       Black cards = 26

                       Red cards = 26

- If we are to draw two cards from the deck of 52 cards. The probability of the first card drawn to be red would be:

                       P ( 1st Red ) = Red cards / Total cards

                                           = 26 / 52

- Once the first card is drawn we are left with 51 cards with the distribution of:

                       Black cards = 26

                       Red cards = 25

- The probability of second card drawn to be red from a deck of 51 cards would be:

                      P ( 2nd Red ) = Red cards / Total cards

                                             = 25 / 51

- So, the probability of drawing two red cards would be:

                     P ( 1st and 2nd red ) = (26/52)*(25/51)

                                                       = 0.2451

Find the area of the triangle on the grid below.
Klio2033 [76]

Answer:

31.5 units²

Step-by-step explanation:

Area = ½*base*height

Height of the triangle on the grid = 9 units

Base = 7 units

Area = ½*9*7

Area = ½*63

Area = 63/2

Area = 31.5 units²

PLEASE HELP URGENT
Sergio [31]

Answer:

  B.  y > 3x -7

Step-by-step explanation:

We can choose the correct inequality based on the y-intercept and the shading.

<h3>Y-intercept</h3>

The dashed line crosses the y-axis at approximately y=-7. This is the value of y when x=0. This observation eliminates choices D, E, F.

<h3>Shading</h3>

The shading on the graph is seen to be above and to the left of the line. This means the variables in relation to the inequality symbol must be ...

  y > ( ) . . . . eliminates choice A

and

  x < ( )  or  ( ) > x . . . . eliminates choice C, confirms choice B

The inequality that matches the graph is y > 3x -7.

__

<em>Additional comment</em>

For looking at shading, we are interested in the relation of the inequality symbol to a variable term with a <em>positive coefficient</em>. If the coefficient is negative, you can do either of ...

  • add the opposite of that variable term to both sides of the equation
  • reverse the inequality symbol

That is, if you have -3x < ( ), when considering shading, you can consider the relation x > ( ) with the inequality reversed, or you can consider ( ) < x, which has x on the other side of the inequality. Both of these tell you shading is right of the line, where x-values are greater than those on the line.

Solve for X by using te given ratio to set up the equation
lozanna [386]

Answer:

X equals 10.

The largest angle is 110.

Step-by-step explanation:

11x + 2x + 5x = 180 \\  \frac{18x}{18}  =  \frac{180}{18}  \\ x = 10

x = 10 \\ 11x \\ 11(10) \\ 110

Is the function given by f(x)equalsleft brace Start 2 By 2 Matrix 1st Row 1st Column one fourth x plus 1 comma 2nd Column for x
MArishka [77]

Answer:

C. The given function is continuous at x=4 because the limit is 2.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the function:

f(x)=\left\{\begin{array}{ccc}\frac{1}{4}x+1 &x\leq 4\\4x-11&x>4\end{array}\right

We are to determine if the function is continuous at x=4.

For a function to be continuous  at some value c in its domain:

  • f(c) must be defined.
  • Lim_{x \to c}$ f(x) must exist.
  • f(c)=Lim_{x \to c}$ f(x)

Now: at x=4

  • f(4)=\dfrac{1}{4}*4+1=2
  • Lim_{x \to 4}f(x)=2

Since the two values are the same, we say that f(x) is continuous at x=4.

The correct option is C.
