On the 3d of February last I officially laid before you the extraordinary announcement of the Imperial German Government that on

and after the 1st day of February it was its purpose to put aside all restraints of law or of humanity and use its submarines to sink every vessel that sought to approach either the ports of Great Britain and Ireland or the western coasts of Europe or any of the ports controlled by the enemies of Germany within the Mediterranean.
It is a war against all nations. American ships have been sunk, American lives taken, in ways which it has stirred us very deeply to learn of, but the ships and people of other neutral and friendly nations have been sunk and overwhelmed in the waters in the same way. There has been no discrimination. The challenge is to all mankind. Each nation must decide for itself how it will meet it. The choice we make for ourselves must be made with a moderation of counsel and a temperateness of judgment befitting our character and our motives as a nation. We must put excited feelings away. Our motive will not be revenge or the victorious assertion of the physical might of the nation, but only the vindication of right, of human right, of which we are only a single champion.

In my opinion, the correct answer would be B. <span>effective because President Wilson outlines the emotional reasons for entering the war. His argument is based on the fact that many American lives have already been taken in the repeated attacks; and not only American, but the lives of so many innocent people in the world. What he basically says is that there is no other option but to take part in this war and stop the world's bully from oppressing everyone. When he says: "</span><span>We must put excited feelings away," he appeals to those very emotions.</span>

Read the excerpt from The Great Gatsby. Instead of being the warm centre of the world, the Middle West now seemed like the ragge
natali 33 [55]

Answer:

The configuration item described is that of the geographic location of the scenic framework.

Explanation:

The novels are literary works which can refer to diversified themes; the novels are divided into a group of primary elements that should not be missing so that it has a good structure; these are:

  • The plot is a series of events that take place throughout the novel.
  • Characters: are the people involved in the development of the plot.
  • Scenic framework: it refers to the time and space (location) that the argument evolves.
  • Narrator: This may be one of the characters in the novel, whether the main or secondary, but he is responsible for telling the story.

In this case, in summary, The Great Gatsby refers to the context in which the narration is made, which refers to the scenic element of the geographical location in which the review is applied.

Which sound device is present in lines three and four?
12345 [234]

The correct answer is:   [A]:

_________________________________________

           " assonance " .

_________________________________________

<u>Note</u>:  Lines 3 and 4 ;  as follows:

_________________________________________

" And many an eye has dance to see

That banner in the sky ; "

_________________________________________

Note that "assonance" refers to the "repetition of vowel sounds" ; that occur "with" words that are close by.

_________________________________________

Note the following words that in "lines 3 and 4" that contain that;

in bold font; as follows:

________________________________________

    " <u>A</u>nd m<u>a</u>ny <u>a</u>n eye h<u>a</u>s d<u>a</u>nce to see

      Th<u>a</u>t b<u>a</u>nner in the sky ; "

_______________________________________

The presents of "repetition of [a] vowel sound" is quite evident within "lines 3 and 4" — as shown above.

{<u>Note</u>:  Try reading the lines aloud and notice 'vowel sounds' that are indicated bold font and underlined — as shown above.}.

_______________________________________

"Alliteration" would be incorrect; since "alliteration" would refer to the present of the repetition of the same consonant sounds; or the same vowel sounds; at the beginning of the first syllables of, words that follow each other—as well as words that appear close together.  There is no evidence of this in "lines 3 and 4" of the given passage.

We can rule out "end rhyme" ; since "see" and "sky" do not "rhyme" —nor do "dance to sea" and "in the sky"— which occur at the end of lines 3 and 4.

We can rule out "onomatopoeia" — since there is no evidence of the use of words that sound like themselves (i.e. no evidence of words such as "rattle, jolt, murmur, gargle, buzz, chirp — within "lines 3 and 4."}.

______________________________________

Hope this is helpful to you!

     Wishing you the best!
