Answer:

The correct option is c. Plants produce glucose and oxygen in photosynthesis that is used by animals and other heterotrophs.

Explanation:

The energy of solar radiation is fixed in plants by photosynthesis, which is a complex anabolic process whose function is to convert light energy into chemical energy while releasing oxygen, and storing energy in the form of carbohydrates. Also, through photosynthesis, plants use the sun's energy to convert soil water and carbon dioxide from the air into a nutrient called glucose (a type of sugar). Glucose gives energy to plants and vegetables. Plants also use glucose to produce cellulose, a substance they use to grow and build cell walls. Therefore, within an ecosystem plants are the producers that supply food power to animals.

In summary, through photosynthesis, plants transform inorganic compounds; H2O (Water), CO2 (Carbon dioxide) and mineral salts, in organic compounds such as glucose, starch, fructose and oxygen (O2) using sunlight captured by the chlorophyll of chloroplasts to produce cell mass. Animals as heterotrophic beings, they consume the plants to obtain energy.
