Ji-Li feels two types of emotions. Pity and shame. She said ''That poor guy with indicates she feels sorry for him''. She also said “He should know better than to dress that way, but I’d just die if somebody cut my pants open in front of everybody like that.” which indicates she feels shame for him.

In what ways can names be empowering?
galben [10]

All names, though some common and others strange are empowering. For example: The name Lloyd means "Sacred", Sultan means "King", Lilith means "Night", really its the meaning behind the names or even its origins that make it empowering. A name can be considered limited when it was made up by the mother and there is no exact definition behind the name or the name is short and it seems to have very little significance. The way we can make that our names are always empowering is to remember that our names are part of our identity, our names have value and a significance or definition behind that make us unique.

Hope this helps you hon :)

An example of irony in the Devil and Tom Walker
Zina [86]
Tom's surprise is a good example of irony since he has lived his whole life in sin and shouldn't be so startled to see the devil, the very embodiment of sin, in front of him. His surprise also conveys the idea that either Tom has very little self-awareness about his own spiritual self, or he simply doesn't care.
