The graph of y=ax+b, where a≠0, is always a line:

i) increasing if a>0
ii) decreasing if a<0

Consider the decreasing case.

The line is above the x-axis, that is positive but decreasing. At 1 single point it cuts the x-axis, so x=0, and then it continues decreasing below the x-axis.

Back to our problem:

The graph of y=-1/2 x +2 is a decreasing line.,

so it CANNOT be
"positive over the interval (4, infinity) and negative over the interval (-infinity, 4)"

it is

"<span>negative over the interval (4, infinity) and  positive over the interval (-infinity, 4)</span>"

the graph is "<span>positive over the interval (-infinity, 4)</span>", it means that the line is decreasing but above the x-axis until 4, (4 not included).

then, "negative over the interval (4, infinity)", which means that the line is now decreasing below the x-axis.

when x=4, the line cuts the x-axis.

Solve for x. 32 24 9
hram777 [196]

Answer:

x = 12

Step-by-step explanation:

By basic proportionality theorem,

\frac{24}{9}  =  \frac{32}{x}  \\  \\ x \:  =  \frac{32 \times 9}{24}  \\ x \:  = 12

Which is the graph of linear inequality 2y &gt; x – 2?
DanielleElmas [232]

On a coordinate plane, a dashed straight line has a positive slope and goes through (negative 4, negative 3), (0, negative 1), and (2, 0). Everything to the left of the line is shaded.

<h3>How to graph inequality?</h3>

Inequality of a graph is represented with the greater then(<), less then(>) or with the other inequity signs. The inequality line on the graph is represented with the dotted lines.

The given linear inequality is,

2y > x - 2

Solve it further,

2y > x - 2\\2y-x > - 2

Change the inequality with changing the sign of it,

x-2y < 2

The inequality equation is graphed, which can be shown in the image provided below. In this graphed equation,

  • The inequality is shaded with dotted line.
  • As the equation is linear. Thus, in the graph, a straight line is plotted.
  • The sign in of greater than. Thus, the left of the line is shaded.

Thus, on a coordinate plane, a dashed straight line has a positive slope and goes through (negative 4, negative 3), (0, negative 1), and (2, 0). Everything to the left of the line is shaded.

If n is even, which of the following cannot be odd?
lys-0071 [83]
B) 3n
well, first of all, you can try it out with numbers like 4,6,28...
3(4)
=12
3(6)
=18
3(28)
=84

also, you can disprove the other theories
a) 0+3=3 (odd)

b) 4^2-1=15 (odd)

What is the slope of a line that goes through the points (4, 2) and (3, 1)?
dedylja [7]

Answer:

1

Step-by-step explanation:

Slope = y2 - y1 /x2 - x1

x1 = 4

y1 = 2

x2 = 3

y2 = 1

Slope = 1 - 2 / 3 - 4

= -1/-1

= 1
