A survey of couples in a city found the following probabilities:
liraira [26]

Answer

(a) 0.94

(b)0.06

Step-by-step explanation:

P(husband is employed) = P(H) = 0.85

P(wife is employed) = P(W) = 0.59

P(both are employed) = P(H∩W) = 0.50

(a) At least one of them is employed

= P(H∪W)

= P(H) + P(W) - P(H∩W)

=0.85 + 0.59 - 0.50

=0.94

(b) Neither is employed,

=1 - P(H∪W)

= 1-0.94

=0.06

12. (24.4D) For what value of c will the graphs of
weqwewe [10]

Answer:

c=144

Step-by-step explanation:

we have

y=2x^2-36x+c ---> equation A

y=2(x-9)^2-18 ---> equation B

Convert the equation A into vertex form and then compare with equation B

we have

y=2x^2-36x+c

Factor 2 leading coefficient

y=2(x^2-18x)+c

Complete the square

y=2(x^2-18x+81)+c-162

Rewrite as perfect squares

y=2(x-9)^2+(c-162)

Compare with equation B

c-162=-18

solve for c

c=-18+162

c=144

Find the measure of each missing angle in the parallel lines and transversals below
never [62]

The equation is 10x=2x+60

 x=15/2

∠CFH=75

∠CBD= 75

We are dealing with parallel lines, which are the lines that are equidistant to each other and never meet,  will never meet, when such lines are crossed by another line called the transversal creates many angles such as corresponding angles, vertical angles, alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, consecutive angles.

Since, angle CBD and angle CFH are the corresponding angles and they are equal to each other, we are given CBD=2x+60 and CFH = 10x

therefore , 10x=2x+60

=>10x-2x=60

=>8x=60

x=15/2

So, the angle CBD= 2x+60= 2(15/2)+60=  75

and the angle CFH = 10x= 10(15/2)= 75

This table shows some values of function
jeyben [28]

For the given ordered pairs, function f(x)= 13(2)ˣ models f(x). Therefore, option B is the correct answer.

From the given table, the ordered pairs are (0, 13), (3, 104) and (5, 416).

<h3>What is the function?</h3>

Functions are the fundamental part of the calculus in mathematics. The functions are the special types of relations. A function in math is visualized as a rule, which gives a unique output for every input x.

Substitute (0, 13), (3, 104) and (5, 416) in the given functions and simplify

A) f(x)=2x+13

With x=0, we get f(x)=13

With x=3, we get f(x)=19

With x=5, we get f(x)=23

B) f(x)= 13(2)ˣ

With x=0, we get f(x)=13

With x=3, we get f(x)=104

With x=5, we get f(x)=416

For the given ordered pairs, function f(x)= 13(2)ˣ models f(x). Therefore, option B is the correct answer.
