Eugene V. Debs was a member of the <em>Socialist Party of America</em>, also candidate for president of the United States. He was arrested for violating the <em>Sediction Act</em>, resulting in his sentence of ten years in prison. He was also called '<em>a traitor to his country</em>' because his socialist ideas were against the American <em>Capitalism</em>.
