Answer:

if you mean the Chicago fire than that they should keep a great attention of even small fires that occur  and they should put rules to make citizens to prevent them from causing another incident which is kind of rare due to the fact that now it's kinda of hard to cause a fire to a glass building.

Sam: Hey Alex, you ready for the big game?

Alex: Yeah man I am ready, are you?

Sam: Well no, I am very nervous and I need help on how to improve my shots.

Alex: As a teammate, we must all work together. Meet me at 5:30 PM at the basketball court so I can teach you. It will be a challenge but I will make sure you master the skill.

Sam: Thank you so much! I will see you then!

Narrator: They arrive at the basketball court to practice.

I would say the best answer is A, he hides behind a tree. I was in between A and D, but one can run in a park.

B wouldn't work because him being dressed in ordinary street clothes doesn't show that he's afraid of something.

C wouldn't work because although yes, he was panting, that could mean that he's just tired; not necessarily, scared.

The man hiding behind the tree is the best evidence for the conclusion of him being afraid of something. Also in the passage it states, "....he moved behind a tree. Seeming not to notice my presence, he stood with his back against the trunk, panting."

I think that in this passage the phrase "pack through" means carrying one's belongings on saddle packs on the horses and leaving the wagons (covered wagons?) behind to travel faster to get to the California gold fields sooner. Mr Johnson decided not to travel this way and instead harnessed his horse to the Frink's wagon and they continued as before. The following excerpt intimates what "pack through" means without actually saying it in those many words. "<span>Mr. Wand and his company have left their wagons here and made pack-saddles, intending to pack their clothing, blankets, provisions, and cooking utensils on their animals, in order to travel faster".</span>
