Most of our oil supply, if not all, comes from non-renewable sources like petroleum and natural gas. Before they can be even used as raw materials with calorific values that are used for energy supply, they take billions of years to develop. They all start from rocks that are compressed deep deep down in the Earth's crust. Due to high pressure from all the weight of the Earth above it and the high temperature near the Earth's core, it slowly stores high chemical energy. As mentioned previously, this process takes a very long time. In this modern times, we are very dependent on petroleum for our fuels that it is likely that we may run out of oil supply. That is why scientists are finding alternative ways to save some reserves of the limited supply. We can never say how long the reserves may last. It really depends on the rate of our usage.

Answer:

See below

Explanation:

Oil is a nonrenewable resource that takes billions of years to develop. While new oil is being discovered, with the help of new technology, the amount of oil being used up far exceeds the amount of new oil that is being discovered. For example, in 2000 to 2005, the world consumed nine times more oil than was discovered in the same amount of time. Predicting future oil supply is a hard thing to do, because we’re just not sure how much more oil can be extracted or if the reliance on this fossil fuel will go up, down, or remain unchanged. What we do know, is that there is not an unlimited supply of oil, since it takes billions of years to form and that it is wreaking havoc on our planet.

Oil is most likely to form becauseChoose one:
Luden [163]

B. tiny algae and plankton decomposed under conditions of heat, pressure, and low oxygen.

Explanation:

Oil is most likely to form where tiny algae and plankton decomposed under conditions of heat, pressure and low oxygen.

Coal will form when plant materials like twigs, leaves and tree trunks decomposed under conditions of heat, pressure and low oxygen.

 • To form oil, algae and plankton will be gathered with sediments in a basin.
 • Rapid burial causes the algae and plankton to be cut off from aerobic environment that would lead to the decay of these organisms.
 • They are buried alive and as the basin subsides, temperature and pressure acts to produce kerogen.
 • Further cracking produces oil and gas.
