The guardians and the auxiliaries are closely related in that they helped maintain rule during Socrates' life in Ancient Greece. The guardians became the rulers and came from the group of Auxiliaries. The Auxiliaries work to support the guardians. The guardians are also know as "philosopher-kings". Together they work to support and protect the city/city-states they presided over.
