In pea plants, the allele for purple flower color is dominant to the allele for white flower color. If you were to perform a tes
Furkat [3]

Answer:

In pea plants, the allele for purple flower color is dominant to the allele for white flower color. If you were to perform a test cross to determine the genotype of a purple-flowered plant, what would you expect the phenotypic ratio of purple-flowered to white-flowered progeny to be if the plant is homozygous? And what would you expect if the plant is heterozygous

D. If the purple-flowered plant is homozygous, than the progeny would all have purple flowers; if the purple-flowered plant is heterozygous, then the progeny would have purple to white flowers in a 3:1 ratio.

for homozygous plant, the genotype progeny would be Pp, Pp, Pp, Pp

ratio of purple-flowered plant would be 4:0 all purple

for heterozygous plant, the genotype would be  PP, Pp, Pp, pp

ratio of purple-flowered would be 3:1

Explanation:

From the above experiment

let purple flower be represented with P

Let white flower be represented with p

then;

for homozygous plant, the genotype progeny would be Pp, Pp, Pp, Pp

ratio of purple-flowered plant would be 4:0 all purple

for heterozygous plant, the genotype would be  PP, Pp, Pp, pp

ratio of purple-flowered would be 3:1

Which of these is NOT part of cellular respiration?
LekaFEV [45]

Explanation:

While the question is incomplete, typical parts of respiration can be classed as...

Not an output or input: ADP, glucose, O₂, ATP

Input: pyruvate, NAD⁺, coenzyme A

Output:  acetyl CoA,  CO₂ NADH,

O2 and glucose are the main inputs used in respiration...

C6H12O6 (glucose) + 6 O2 → 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + ≈38 ATP

Further Explanation:

In all eukaryotic cells mitochondria are small cellular organelles bound by membranes, these make most of the chemical energy required for powering the biochemical reactions within the cell. This chemical energy is stored within the molecule ATP which is produced.

Respiration in the mitochondria utilizes acetyl coA, which is produced from the activity of coenzyme A on pyruvate, along with oxygen for the production of ATP in the Krebs’s cycle via the oxidization of pyruvate( through the process of glycoysis). The electron transport chain, in which oxygen functions as the terminal electron acceptor occurs in both plants and animals.

  • Glycolysis: occurs in the cytoplasm 2 molecules of ATP are used to cleave glucose into 2 pyruvates, 4 ATP and 2 electron carrying NADH molecules.
  • The Kreb's cycle: in the mitochondrial matrix- 6 molecules of CO2 are produced by combining oxygen and the carbon within pyruvate, 2 ATP oxygen molecules, 8 NADH and 2 FADH2.
  • The electron transport chain, ETC: in the inner mitochondrial membrane, 34 ATP, electrons combine with H+ split from 10 NADH, 4 FADH2, renewing the number of electron acceptors and 3 oxygen; this forms 6 H2O, 10 NAD+, 4 FAD.
