Consider the following prairie food chain. Tall grass is consumed by grasshoppers that, in turn, are eaten by mice, and the mice
AleksandrR [38]

Answer:

Grasshoppers are primary consumers.

Explanation:

Autotrophs serve as primary producers in a food chain as they can make organic food by the process of photosynthesis. In the given food chain, tall grass is the primary producer. Grasshoppers derive their nutrition from the tall grass. The organisms that derive nutrition directly from the primary producers are said to be primary consumers. This makes grasshoppers primary consumers.

Mice the secondary consumers as they feed on the grasshoppers, the primary consumers. Red-tailed hawks are the top consumers in the given food chain. The bacteria, beetles, fungi, and worms are the decomposers that derive nutrition from the organic matter present in the dead bodies of the red-tailed hawks.

What is energy efficiency? Explain why we can think of energy efficiency as an energy resource. What percentage of the energy us
LiRa [457]

Answer:

Energy efficiency is a determination of the amount of work one can obtain from each energy unit used. Improving energy efficiency signifies the usage of less energy to offer a similar amount of work in the forms of heat, light, transportation, and other benefits. This constitutes a largely untapped source of energy, which is clean, abundant, easily available, and cheap.

About 84 percent of all the commercial energy utilized in the United States does not generate useful work. Approximately 41 percent of this energy generally ends up as low-quality waste heat in the environment due to deprivation of energy eminence levied by the 2nd law of thermodynamics. The remaining 43 percent is wasted needlessly, majorly because of the inefficacy of industrial motors, light bulbs, power plants, and motor vehicles.

The four broadly used devices that waste energy are incandescent light bulb, a motor vehicle with an internal combustion engine, a coal-fired power plant, and a nuclear power plant. The prime advantages of reducing energy wastes are:

1. Reduces oil imports and betters energy security.

2. Prolongs supplies of fossil fuels.

3. Reduced pollution and environment degradation.

4. Very high energy yield and low cost.

The three prime reasons that energy efficiency has been neglected are:

1. Energy stays artificially cheap (subsidies for fossil fuel and mining companies).

2. Few large and long-enduring incentives for energy efficiency.

3. Prices do not comprise cost of health and environmental influences.

Which area of the brain may be affected when a client with anxiety disorder shows symptoms related to respiratory activation and
Brilliant_brown [7]

Answer:Medulla and pons.

Explanation: Brain is the part of the body that controls all body activities. Medulla and pins are part of the brain.

Medulla controls respiration. It receives signals from chemoreceptors and send to muscles that allow respiration. It also regulate heart rate and blood pressure to ensure adequate blood supply circulate the body system.

Medulla also help in adjusting respiration when there is need and also generates normal breathing movements by stimulating the nerve that supplies the diaphragm. This pons are located under the medulla and it controls speed of involuntary respiration( respiration

Not under conscious control).

When a patience shows a disorder in respiration, invountary respiration, increase in heart rate its a disorder of Medulla and pons also called Brainstems

Why don't people's cells starve from lack of glucose while they are fasting
GenaCL600 [577]
Answer:

Fasting can definitely raise blood glucose. This is due to the effect of insulin falling and the rising counter-regulatory hormones including increased sympathetic tone, noradrenaline, cortisol and growth hormone, in addition to glucagon. These all have the effect of pushing glucose from liver storage into the blood. This is normal. If you are not eating, you want to use some stored glucose. The question is this – if you are not eating, and your blood glucose went up, where did that glucose come from? It can only have come from your own body (liver). So, it’s a natural phenomenon, and the fasting now allows your body to use some of the glucose for energy.
