Well from what I remember Ponyboy and Johnny got jumped and the Socs were trying to drown Ponyboy in the fountain. And when Ponyboy gained back his consiousness he saw Johnny sitting there next to one of the socs corspe Bob dead, telling ponyboy he killed Bob because the socs were gonna drown Ponyboy and beat up Johnny.
