The chemical composition of chromatin is DNA and protein. This implies the correct answer is B.

Chromatin is made of DNA and proteins and can be found in the nucleus of individual cells. The main function of chromatin is to compress the DNA into a smaller unit so that it can be well fit into the nucleus.

In other words, for DNA to be positioned properly within the nucleus it has to be compressed into compact unit and be less voluminous, therefore, the compression is made possible by the chromatin.

<h2>Further Explanation</h2>

The proteins that are present in the chromatin are also known as histones and also carry out certain functions. One of the functions of histones is to arrange DNA into structures also known as nucleosomes. Histones help to provide a base which serves as covers for the DNA.

There about 150 pairs base of DNA sequence that can be found in the nucleosomes. These DNA sequence are covered by a group of eight histones which are also referred to as octamer.

Chromatin allows mitosis and meiosis to take place and its function is also not limited to the controlling of gene expression during DNA replication.

Therefore, the chemical composition of chromatin is DNA and protein

Arachidonic acid is the raw material for synthesis of
RUDIKE [14]

Answer:

The correct answer is E. Arachidonic acid is the raw material for synthesis of eicosanoids.

Explanation:

Arachidonic acid is an essential omega-6 fatty acid formed by a 20-carbon chain with four double bonds. The presence of double bonds causes this molecule to have several sites that can be oxidized, allowing the formation of different lipids with different biological activities.

Arachidonic acid is part of phospholipids in cell membranes, and is the precursor of eicosanoid biosynthesis. Arachidonic acid can be synthesized from linoleic acid, one of the essential fatty acids required by most mammals.

Explain natural selection and adaptations of bacteria
faust18 [17]

Natural selection can cause speciation, which increases the biodiversity of an ecosystem. Several bacterial colonies are placed on a petri dish that contains agar with antibiotics. After 24 hours, ninety percent of the original bacteria die, but the remaining ten percent survive and later reproduce.

13) Crossing over is important because it creates ___.
Ainat [17]

Crossing over is important because it creates genetic variability.

<h3>What is crossing over?</h3>

It is the exchange of chromosomal segments between non-homologous chromosomes in a tetrad.

Since chromosomal segments contain genes at different loci, the exchange will increase the genetic variability of the new chromosomes.

Thus, the daughter cells carrying the recombined chromosomes will be genetically variable from not just the parent cell, but fellow daughter cells.
