Explanation:

Biodiversity is the measure of variability and variety at the genetic, species, and ecosystem level.

Human activities that are leading to a decrease in biodiversity are -

  • The gradual transformation of natural areas for industrial or agricultural use not only results in the loss of vegetable species, but also decreases the animal species associated to them.
  • Pollution is also affecting the biodiversity adversely. Pollution water air and land are producing negative effects directly or indirectly, that alters the flow of energy, the physical and chemical constitution of the environment and abundance of the species.

Human activities that are leading to an increase in biodiversity are -

  • Afforestation and protection of forest areas are some of the important steps in the direction of protecting biodiversity.
  • Increasing dependency on renewable resources day by day is also helping us in dealing with the climate change and hence protecting the biodiversity from further loss.
