Biodiversity is the measure of variability and variety at the genetic, species, and ecosystem level.

Human activities that are leading to a decrease in biodiversity are -

  • The gradual transformation of natural areas for industrial or agricultural use not only results in the loss of vegetable species, but also decreases the animal species associated to them.
  • Pollution is also affecting the biodiversity adversely. Pollution water air and land are producing negative effects directly or indirectly, that alters the flow of energy, the physical and chemical constitution of the environment and abundance of the species.

Human activities that are leading to an increase in biodiversity are -

  • Afforestation and protection of forest areas are some of the important steps in the direction of protecting biodiversity.
  • Increasing dependency on renewable resources day by day is also helping us in dealing with the climate change and hence protecting the biodiversity from further loss.

As we know that the plants is universal producer.Plant absorb CO2 from atmosphere by the help of photosynthesis from where plant make glucose ,oxygen and energy and then plant exhale O2 but in plants there is another process is going on called respiration which exhale same amount of CO2 as consumed in photosyntesis and in autumn the leaves fall on the soil which on later decomposed and release carbon dioxide this whole  cycle is called carbon cycle !!
