I would say this theme is universal. That is because of the significant difference between the two ie imagination and reality. Reality is the way things actually are, in fact and it can be called hard reality because it can be difficult and require a lot of hard work to make it successful and sacrifice, whereas imagination is or can be wondering how things are in say another place or in the future and it may or may not reflect reality. On the other hand, visualizing how one would like things to be can be a powerful tool to make them actually happen that way.,

Review the conflict from "The Glass of Milk." The boy turns down food offered to him by a sailor on the docks. How does this act
makvit [3.9K]

Answer:

A) It escalates the conflict by showing that, despite being very hungry, the boy's pride prevents him from accepting help.

Explanation:

A Glass of Milk is a story by an unknown author, which recounts the experience of a boy who is poor and hungry, yet he is ashamed of his situation and does not want to receive charity from others who offers him food. The sailor situation quote in the question refers to the beginning of the story, where the sailor offers the boy food, yet he declines it, saying he is not hungry despite the fact that he is. This exchange introduces the central conflict of the story.

Liono4ka [1.6K]

Excerpt from: Life on the Mississippi

Mark Twain

THERE was no use in arguing with a person like this. I promptly put such a strain on my memory that by and by even the shoal water and the countless crossing-marks began to stay with me. But the result was just the same. I never could more than get one knotty thing learned before another presented itself. Now I had often seen pilots gazing at the water and pretending to read it as if it were a book; but it was a book that told me nothing. A time came at last, however, when Mr. Bixby seemed to think me far enough advanced to bear a lesson on water-reading. So he began—
