What is the sum of the series (image below)<br><br> a. 1,830<br> b. 2,010<br> c. 5,400<br> d. 5,490
Anit [1.1K]

Answer:

d.  5490

Step-by-step explanation:

\begin{aligned}\displaystyle \sf \sum_{n=1}^{60} 3n & =3(1)+3(2)+3(3)+...+3(49)+3(50)\\ & = 3+6+9+...+147+150\end{aligned}

Therefore, this is an arithmetic series with:

  • first term (a) = 3
  • common difference (d) = 3

Sum of the first n terms of an arithmetic series:

S_n=\dfrac12n[2a+(n-1)d]

Therefore, the sum of the first 60 terms:

\begin{aligned}S_{60} &=\dfrac12(60)[2(3)+(60-1)3]\\ & =30[6+(59)3]\\ & = 30[6+177]\\ & = 30[183]\\ & = 5490 \end{aligned}

60 inches long she cuts off 40% she decides 75% of the peice she cut off. how much of the ribbon does kelly end up using in her
kipiarov [429]
Hey there!

For this problem and problems like these, it's easier just to draw everything out. Once you get the hang of envisioning these drawings in your mind, you won't have to, but when you're starting out on problems like these, it's best to draw yourself little representations of the situation and label everything accordingly.

I have attached such a diagram. Basically, I calculated 40% of 60 inches, then calculated 75% of 40% of 60 inches. Hope my drawing helps you see the situation a little better.

Keep in mind that in order to multiply a whole number by a percentage, you need to convert it to a decimal. As an example, 40% will be converted to 0.40, or just 0.4.

Hope this helped you out!

The value of a house has increased by 5% the house is now valued at £609000 what is the value of the house before the increase?
lutik1710 [3]

Answer:

Current \ price = 609000\\\\Let \ the \ original \ price \ be = x\\\\\% increase = 5 \% \ of \ x = \frac{5}{100} \times x = \frac{5x}{100}\\\\Price \ after \ increase, current\ price = \frac{5x}{100} + x\\\\

=> 609000 = \frac{5x}{100} + x\\\\=>609000 = \frac{105x}{100}\\\\=> x = \frac{609000 \times 100}{105}\\\\x = 580000

Therefore original price = $580,000
