The Ohio River Valley was fought over for resources that were good for trade such as fur. The French and British were fighting over power and resources during this time. French had colonized lands to the West while the British colonized lands on the East Coast of North America. They had a border dispute as to who owned the land in the Ohio River Valley, and the French and Indian War break out.
The Homestead Act helped to expand and develop the united states because it granted land for agriculture. it allowed people to acquire land west of the Mississippi river and to settle it. President Lincoln signed the Homestead Act on May 20 ,1862
The United States uses "<span>d. trade embargo"</span> to encourage democratic reforms in Cuba, since it was thought that this would put pressure on the regime. They have largely failed to do so, however.
