Development of sculpture reached its climax in the malla period. Explain with evidence.
evablogger [386]

Answer:

When looking at the statue, we can see how many different materials and influences were used. This was because there were new inventions and developments in art. The sculptures are full of details, richly ornamented, show amazing figures, and a wonderful mastery of the art.

Explanation:

During the Malla period of Nepal (starting around 1201 AD) sculpturing reached the highest point. This is why this period is also called The Golden Age of Sculpture and art. The figurines and sculptures mostly presented deities and religious traditions.

They were done in great detail, with many ornaments with advanced techniques. There were many materials used: clay, stone, wood, metal, paper, cloth, etc. Many new inventions were incorporated into the art and they helped the making technique. There was the influence of Buddhism, Tibet, and tantric teaching, and they all helped the development of the elaborate sculpturing art.

We can see the details and the mastery in the sculptures attached. They are all done out of various materials, in different poses and different settings. They are all very unique, some presenting elaborate human figures and some presenting animals. They are all richly ornamented, with many small elements we continue to see only after close analysis. They are intertwined with religious symbolism and express the professionalism of the artists.
