In Persistence of Memory, time is represented by clocks and hourglass. The clocks appear as though they are made of rubber, or cloth, draped over other objects. They are flexible and can bend. Some suggest that Dali was influenced by the scientific discoveries of the day, particularly Einstein's theories in which time is flexible not static.

Writers do not have to view the passage of time as a static thing either. They can describe events in the present and then flashback to past events. They can in one sentence describe a year of time, or they can in minute detail discuss what is happening with each passing second. In other words, writers can control and bend time just as Dali has done.

In act 3, why does mary warren change her testimony and join abigail and the other girls?.
solong [7]

Mary warren change her testimony and join abigail and the other girls because she is frightened when abigail pretends to be attacked by her spirit.

Act 3 is the most intense scene in the play because everything is revealed, and timing proves to be one of the most important factors. Proctor realizes that it is critical for Mary Warren to testify against Abigail before she loses her courage to do so. In addition, time is critical at this point in the play because individuals are being convicted continuously. Every conviction increases Abigail's authority and decreases the likelihood that the Court will acquit someone accused. Proctor knows that Mary Warren is unsure about testifying directly against Abigail. As Danforth appears to favor Abigail's claim that Mary Warren is lying, Proctor informs him that Parris caught Abigail and the others dancing in the woods. This information, coupled with the fact that Parris discovered them, profoundly affects Danforth. Now Danforth views Abigail differently, and is more inclined to believe Proctor.

Select all the correct answers.
Helga [31]

The correct answers are: B) the dystopian world that Gregor enters as an insect, and C) Gregor's sudden transformation into a giant insect.

A Kafkaesque situation is a nightmarish one, and also strongly surreal, so in that sense, the options that relate the most to said expression are the ones that have to do with dream-like things, like the dystopian world and Gregor becoming an insect.
