Answer:

39.72 g

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of CsF = 15.2 g

Mass of XeF₆ = 260 g

Mass of Cs[XeF₇] = ?

Solution:

Chemical reaction:

CsF + XeF₆   →  Cs[XeF₇]

Number of moles of CsF:

Number of moles = mass/ molar mass

Number of moles = 15.2 g/151.9 g/mol

Number of moles = 0.1 mol

Number of moles of XeF₆ :

Number of moles = mass/ molar mass

Number of moles = 260 g/245.28 g/mol

Number of moles = 1.06 mol

Now we will compare the moles of Cs[XeF₇] with both reactants.

                            CsF               :            Cs[XeF₇]

                               1                 :                 1

                             0.1                :              0.1

                             XeF₆            :           Cs[XeF₇]

                                 1               :               1

                                1.06           ;              1.06

Number of moles of Cs[XeF₇] produce by CsF are less so it will limiting reactant and limit the yield of Cs[XeF₇].

Mass of Cs[XeF₇]:

Mass = number of moles × molar mass

Mass = 0.1 mol × 397.2 g/mol

Mass = 39.72 g

Why is graphite used for electrodes?
scZoUnD [109]

Answer:

Graphite is an electrical conductor, hence useful in such applications as arc lamp electrodes. It can conduct electricity due to the vast electron delocalization within the carbon layers (a phenomenon called aromaticity). These valence electrons are free to move, so are able to conduct electricity.

A 32.2 g iron rod, initially at 21.9 C, is submerged into an unknown mass of water at 63.5 C. in an insulated container. The fin
lorasvet [3.4K]

Answer : The mass of the water in two significant figures is, 3.0\times 10^1g

Explanation :

In this case the heat given by the hot body is equal to the heat taken by the cold body.

q_1=-q_2

m_1\times c_1\times (T_f-T_1)=-m_2\times c_2\times (T_f-T_2)

where,

c_1 = specific heat of iron metal = 0.45J/g^oC

c_2 = specific heat of water = 4.18J/g^oC

m_1 = mass of iron metal = 32.3 g

m_2 = mass of water = ?

T_f = final temperature of mixture = 59.2^oC

T_1 = initial temperature of iron metal = 21.9^oC

T_2 = initial temperature of water = 63.5^oC

Now put all the given values in the above formula, we get

32.3g\times 0.45J/g^oC\times (59.2-21.9)^oC=-m_2\times 4.18J/g^oC\times (59.2-63.5)^oC

m_2=30.16g\approx 3.0\times 10^1g

Therefore, the mass of the water in two significant figures is, 3.0\times 10^1g

Which of the following is a universal solvent?
H2O
H2O2
C2H5OH
HCl
scZoUnD [109]

Answer:

H₂O

Explanation:

H₂O is the chemical formula of water.

Water is regarded as a "universal solvent". The reason behind this is the property of the water. Water is a solvent that can dissolve a variety of substances in itself. Any other liquid cannot dissolve the number of substances that the solvent water can. The reason behind being the universal solvent is the chemical composition and physical characteristics of water.
