Sam sees a rocket traveling straight up at an angle of elevation of 24 degrees. If Sam is located 5 miles from the rocket Launch
julsineya [31]

Given :

Angle of elevation, Ф = 24°.

Distance of Sam from launchpad, D = 5 miles.

To Find :

How high is the rocket.

Solution :

Let, height is h.

We know, tan Ф is given by :

tan \ \phi=\dfrac{h}{d}\\\\tan \ 24^{\circ}=\dfrac{h}{5}\\\\h = 5\times tan \ 24^{\circ}\\\\h = 2.226 \ miles

Hence, this is the required solution.

Solve by quadratic formula. x squared plus x plus 1 = 0
Tasya [4]

Remember that the quadratic formula is: \dfrac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}.

a stands for the coefficient of the first term, the one associated with the x^2, b stands for the coefficient of the second term, the one associated with x, and c stands for the value of the constant.

In x^2 + x + 1 = 0, our a-value is 1, our b-value is also 1, and our c-value is also 1.

Thus, when we plug in our values into our formula, we get the answer:

\dfrac{-1 \pm \sqrt{1^2 - 4(1)(1)}}{2(1)} = \dfrac{-1 \pm \sqrt{-3}}{2}

Simplifying this answer using i = \sqrt{-1}, we get our final answer of:

\boxed{x = \dfrac{-1 \pm i\sqrt{3}}{2}}

Bill weight is 48 kilograms which is 10 kilograms more than one half his father wieght. What answer father's weight?Explain the
zalisa [80]
48-10=x x=38
38x2= 76

so basically his weight is 48, which is ten more than his fathers weight, so you subtract ten from 48, giving you 38. 38 is only half the father's weight, so you double it and get 76.

Plz help my phone is dying$!!
navik [9.2K]
Hey there!

The answer to 1. Is VR and TS. The answer to 2. Is VR and SR because of the mark in the corner which means that the angle is 90 degrees. This always means that the two lines that are making the 90 degree angle are perpendicular. The answer to 3. Is TV and RV because there’s no 90 degree angle and the lines are crossing each other if the lines would go on forever in both directions.

I hope this helps!
